Aside from the observatory, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Hesketh Park, one of Southport's gems. Visit the large green house by the edge of the lake, or sit and watch the fountains send ripples amongsts the clutter of Ducks on the water.

One our most popular activies, that we hold whenver the weather affords us some sunlight, is to look at sun spots. To achieve this, we point an array of our smaller, volunteer owned telescopes at the sun, and project the images onto a special board which allows you to see the sun in detail without damaging your eyes. Small sun spots are often visible on it's surface, and we can use the telescopes to track the suns progress across the sky.
